COMMEMORATION TRIBUTE TO THE VICTIMS OF THE DAY OF EUROPE

Bulgarian Ambassador to Serbia Angel Dimitrov, with his associates, military attaché and Consul General Consulate in Nis, Atanas Krstin, and president of Palilula Boban Džunić, laid wreaths at the mausoleum to the fallen Bulgarian soldiers in the the Second World War. Wreaths were laid by representatives of the Bulgarian national minority in Serbia and the NGO sector.Memorial ossuary to the Bulgarian armed forces was erected in 1948 in the "Ledena Stena" settlement of Palilula municipality, in order to remember the Bulgarian soldiers which were fallen in combat operations against the German invaders in the territory of the former Yugoslavia.

Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Serbia, Angel Dimitrov pointed out that the sacrifice of soldiers should be respected because it is woven into our future and our lives. "We all owe them gratitude for these civilization achievements that we have now. Many soldiers sacrificed for the cause in the final battles for the liberation of Nis and their victim should be respected, "said Dimitrov.President of Municipality of Palilula, Boban Džunić, recalled the importance of the traditional tribute to the soldiers who gave their lives for the liberation of the country and the entire nation. "This memorial occupies a significant place among the many monuments on the territory of our municipality. Here lies about two and a half thousand members of the Bulgarian Armed Forces fallen during the struggle against the German occupiers and against fascism, "said Džunić.

According to Boban Džunić this town municipality of Nis has excellent cooperation with the Republic of Bulgaria through the various project activities and-Partnership with the cities of thy Kyustendil, Bobov Dol, Botevgrad, Ihtiman, Berkovica. This was enabled with the program of neighborly cooperation Serbia-Bulgaria and the support of the European Union, which has been achieved to strengthen cultural, social and economic cooperation between the two neighboring countries."In gratitude for his contribution to the development and advancement of good neighborly relations and support of the cross-border cooperation, we assign the Charter, the highest recognition of our community, to Angel Dimitrov Ambassador and Consul General, Atanas Krstin. The plan is still to continue with our common projects that will advance our cooperation in the region, "said the president Džunić.
